Sizewell C rated ‘Excellent’ in international sustainability report

Sizewell C has been awarded an ‘excellent’ rating from infrastructure sustainability assessment scheme, CEEQUAL, for the Strategy phase of the project.
The rating means that Sizewell C has clearly demonstrated commitment to delivering a sustainable project, from the outset.

The assessment considers environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors and it is an internationally recognised benchmark for assessing how sustainable an infrastructure project is.

Kristina Schaferova, Sustainability Lead from Sizewell C said: “This is a really important process for Sizewell C, a CEEQUAL rating encourages best-practice and helps to embed sustainability throughout a project. For us, it’s a big opportunity to put sustainability at the forefront of our plans and to understand how we can take extra steps to further improve. Being awarded an Excellent rating at this early stage is a really positive sign of how the project intends to move forward.”

To date, Sizewell C is the largest single asset infrastructure project in Europe to take a ‘whole project’ approach to implementing CEEQUAL.

CEEQUAL is the international evidence-based sustainability assessment, rating and awards scheme for civil engineering, infrastructure, landscaping and works in public spaces.
The CEEQUAL rating is administered by BRE Global, an independent third-party certification body.
