What is Sizewell Creative?

Sizewell Creative is a new initiative from the Sizewell C project that supports local communities through the creative arts.

We work with schools, artists, arts organisations, the Sizewell C workforce, businesses, and professionals to make the arts more accessible. Our goal is to bring people together and celebrate community through creativity.

Suffolk has a rich cultural history, and the Sizewell C project offers new opportunities for people to take part in the arts. We’re partnering with fantastic organisations across the region and beyond to create a lasting artistic legacy.

Our projects focus on place and belonging, with a strong presence in Leiston, Lowestoft, Ipswich, and East London.

Investing in community through the arts

Collaboration, partnership, and celebration are at the heart of everything we do. We work with local artists and organisations to support communities and sustain Suffolk’s rich artistic legacy.

Sizewell Creative’s journey began with the installation of a piano at the Sizewell C Leiston office, marking an investment in both the community and workforce creativity.

Since then, our music has reached over 2,000 people across London and Suffolk, inspiring and engaging audiences every step of the way.

Performances

We launched Sizewell Creative with our first production, of Noye’s Fludde in the summer of 2024, bringing music and creativity to new audiences. Noye’s Fludde is an opera by Benjamin Britten, born in Lowestoft – the home of Sizewell C.

The opera addresses climate change while engaging young people and the community to explore how their feelings towards environmental issues, along with the building of Sizewell C. These themes were explored through music and drama workshops alongside the performance itself

Looking ahead, our next major performance is set for 2026 – a co-production with Britten Pears Arts, a leading music education organisation in Suffolk.

Come and Sing

Come and Sing is just one part of the Sizewell Creative offer – but it’s huge fun!

Under the professional guidance of opera director Rosalind Parker and conductor Tim Brown, Come and Sing is a fun sing-a-long of firm favourite, blended with some new music too.

A celebration of singing and community – whether you are an individual, a family, a whole choir – everyone is welcome at a Come and Sing event.

Come and Sing is suitable for the whole family. Spaces are free, but limited. Our next event details will be released soon.

Sizewell Creative for the community

Sizewell Creative is all about connection, creativity, and community. We partner with local artists and organisations to bring inspiring projects to life, celebrating Suffolk’s vibrant cultural heritage and engaging people of all ages.

A prime example is our Make Your Rainbow campaign, which united the Leiston community in creating a spectacular giant rainbow, bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds to celebrate creativity and collaboration.

Sizewell Creative for schools

Sizewell Creative partners with schools, colleges, and universities to make the arts more accessible in education. Our long-term practitioner investment programme ensures lasting impact. This work begins in primary and engages up until apprenticeship in local and regional arts partners.

We’ve already worked with eight schools, including Special Educational Needs schools, as well as primary, secondary, university, and career-focused institutions like Suffolk New College

In March, we’re supporting the launch of a Creative Careers Day in Ipswich and collaborating on a cross-practitioner curriculum review for Suffolk New College.

Looking ahead, we’re working together with partners to raise awareness and provide guidance to help launch a creative apprenticeship programme set to begin next year.

Current partners include: English Touring Opera, Britten Pears Arts, London International Festival of Early Music, New Wolsey, Dance East and Jubilee Hall.

Sizewell Creative for business

In partnership with the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce, we are pioneering a new approach that brings creativity into the heart of business. Rather than asking for investment, we focus on using creativity as a tool to enable collaboration across businesses, helping to drive shared goals and priorities.

This initiative is a collaboration between Suffolk Chamber of Commerce and Sizewell Creative.

Stay tuned for updates on this initiative.
