Sizewell C awards G4S major facilities management contract, creating up to 400 jobs

• Majority of roles will be based in the project’s host county of Suffolk
• G4S expands its existing role at Sizewell C, where it already delivers security and medical services
• Around a third of Sizewell C’s peak workforce will come from East Anglia

Sizewell C has awarded G4S a major facilities management contract that will create up to 400 jobs, with most roles expected to be based in Suffolk.

The 10-year agreement, which includes an option to extend for a further two years, is currently in the mobilisation phase and will begin later this year with an initial team of around 150 employees.

Under the contract, G4S will provide a comprehensive range of services to support the day-to-day operation of the project in Suffolk, including hard services such as mechanical and electrical maintenance, building fabric maintenance, and general building maintenance, and soft services such as cleaning, workforce locker management, helpdesk services, and postal services.

Bringing these capabilities together allows G4S to deliver an integrated service model that keeps site facilities running seamlessly while supporting Sizewell C’s growing workforce.

G4S brings extensive experience of supporting major infrastructure and nuclear projects across the UK, including nearly a decade of work at Hinkley Point C, where it provides integrated security and facilities management services for thousands of workers.

The contract also builds on G4S’s established presence at Sizewell C, where it already delivers security and medical services.

The appointment represents another significant investment in the East of England and continues Sizewell C’s commitment to creating jobs, skills and opportunities across Suffolk and the wider region.

Earlier this year, Sizewell C’s second Annual Sustainability Report revealed the project had already invested nearly £5bn with more than 1,000 UK suppliers, including £1bn in Suffolk alone.

At peak construction, around a third of Sizewell C’s 7,900-strong on-site workforce, approximately 2,600 people, will come from East Anglia. The project will also create 1,500 apprenticeships, including at least 540 opportunities for people from Suffolk.
