Creating a Lasting Legacy

Sizewell C Legacy in the Community

At Sizewell C, we believe our legacy should be measured not only in the clean, reliable energy we’ll provide for generations, but in the lasting benefits we create for the people and places around us.

Our legacy projects are about giving back — investing in local skills, supporting community initiatives, restoring and protecting nature, and creating opportunities that will endure long after construction is complete.

College on the Coast

We’re building a College on the Coast – a new, permanent further education campus in Leiston, where currently there is no post-16 education provision.

Designed in partnership with Suffolk New College, it will equip local people with the skills needed for Sizewell C and the wider energy, infrastructure, and engineering sectors across the region.

Digital Connectivity

We’ve helped extend East Suffolk Council’s free public Wi-Fi along Leiston High Street, from Leiston Film Theatre to the Long Shop Museum, giving more people fast, reliable internet in the town centre.

Our investment has also enabled Openreach to bring Full Fibre broadband to over 5,000 homes in Leiston and nearby towns, delivering faster, more reliable internet across the area.

Beach Parking

Free parking is now in place at Sizewell Beach for a year-long trial, funded by Sizewell C.

The initiative is designed to encourage year-round use of the beach and to help ease pressure on ecologically sensitive areas. It is also expected to reduce informal roadside parking near the beach, improving safety and the local environment.

Energy Advice Hubs

Sizewell C funding has enabled Citizens Advice East Suffolk to open Energy Advice Hubs, providing free, expert support on energy bills and home energy efficiency.

The hubs in Leiston and Lowestoft offer guidance on speaking with energy providers, managing energy use, and reducing energy loss at home.

Sutton Hoo

Sizewell C has contributed £20,000 to the Sutton Hoo Ship’s Company Corporate Sponsorship Scheme, joining other organisations in helping to raise the £1.5 million needed to complete the full reconstruction of the historic ship.

Partnership with Woodbridge Tide Mill Museum

Sizewell C has announced a new partnership with the Woodbridge Tide Mill Museum, helping to safeguard the Mill’s future for generations to come.

Museum trustees have agreed a three-year corporate membership with the nuclear power project – the first of its kind in the trust’s history.
