A partnership between Inspire Suffolk and Sizewell C to open up access to jobs at the proposed power station has taken another step forward.
Students on Inspire Suffolk’s ‘Step Up’ training course have visited Sizewell B to learn how their local energy sector can provide long term well paid rewarding jobs that tackle climate change.
The cohort of a dozen local students learnt about the importance of the nuclear and offshore wind energy sector in the East of England and how they could join the growing industry.
Inspire Suffolk CEO, Terry Baxter, said: “The energy sector in this region provides exciting opportunities for long term careers. I am delighted that through our partnership with Sizewell C we can open up routes into this sector for students that may have thought this was out of their reach.”
Paul Morton, Sizewell C Regional Development Director, said: “Our partnership with Inspire Suffolk continues to widen the opportunity for local people to work with us at Sizewell C. The local energy sector is growing and we have a responsibility to deliver jobs into it.”
Inspire Suffolk’s Step Up courses aim to provide young people from the ages, 16-25, the opportunity to gain industry-related training and qualifications required as a stepping stone into employment.
