Gavin Rousseau has been appointed as Sizewell B Maintenance Manager taking over from Danny Bailey who retires this year following 44 years with the nuclear industry.

Starting with Sizewell B straight from Alde Valley Academy, formerly Leiston High School, when he was 16, Gavin says the station has always been part of his life.

“Joining Sizewell B as an apprentice was a brilliant introduction to the industry.  It was great growing up in the area, as youngsters we would come down to the beach and watch Sizewell B being built.  I am delighted that I can now manage the team that looks after the station to ensure it keeps its world-class record of performance.”

Gavin still visits Alde Valley Academy to mentor students and share his experiences on what it is like to work in the industry.  He says, “It is important that young people know what opportunities are on their doorsteps.  Sizewell B still offers the same opportunities for young people that I had all those years ago and Sizewell C will deliver the same from its construction phase right through to operation.  The sky is the limit for those who work hard and want to play their part in delivering clean energy generation to tackle climate change.”

Adam Anderson, Sizewell B Plant Manager, who also joined the power station as an apprentice from Leiston High School, said: “It gives me real pleasure in welcoming Gavin to the management team, he has a wealth of leadership experience at Sizewell B and a breadth of knowledge gained since joining the station as an apprentice.”
