More than 400 people attended a Sizewell C careers fair in Leiston, highlighting strong local interest in jobs and training opportunities linked to the project.

The event, held at Sizewell Sports and Social Club on King Georges Avenue, was the second careers event in Leiston this year, following an apprenticeship information evening in February.

On Wednesday, nearly 20 supply chain partners showcased a wide range of roles – from apprenticeships and skilled trades to professional careers.

The fair was organised in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and followed a series of successful events across Suffolk in 2025, including two careers fairs in Ipswich and one in Lowestoft. Together, these fairs have attracted more than 1,500 attendees.

Stuart Allsopp, Jobs Service Lead at Sizewell C, said: “Despite the soggy weather, we had an incredible turnout. The atmosphere was buzzing, full of energy and excitement, and it was brilliant to see so many positive conversations happening throughout the event. It really showed the strength of local interest and enthusiasm. Our apprentices also did an amazing job and really did the project proud – they had some great conversations with parents and hopefully future Sizewell C apprentices.”

At peak construction, at least a third of Sizewell C’s 7,900-strong workforce will come from East Anglia. The project will also deliver at least 1,500 apprenticeships, including 540 for those in Suffolk.

The next Sizewell C careers fair will take place at the Nucleus Employability Hub at East Coast College in Lowestoft on 9 December. Further details will be announced nearer the time.
