Sizewell C is gearing up to hold its second Ipswich-based careers fair of 2025, following a series of successful events across Suffolk.

Taking place at the University of Suffolk on Wednesday 27 August, the event will bring together more than 20 supply chain partners to showcase the wide range of jobs, apprenticeships, and training opportunities available during the construction and operation of the nuclear power plant.

Held in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), the fair is open to everyone — from students awaiting exam results to those considering a career change.

The three-hour event, which opens at 11am, follows well-attended careers fairs in Lowestoft and Leiston, which together, welcomed around 1,000 visitors.

Earlier this year, more than 200 people attended the first Ipswich-based jobs fair.

Stuart Allsopp, Jobs Service Lead at Sizewell C, said: “We’ve had some fantastic outcomes so far with people getting jobs at Sizewell C and our supply chain partners. These events are a great way for people to find out more about the project, and the role they can play in helping to build and operate the power plant in years to come.

“Many young people get their exam results this month, so for them, now is a great time to head down to the jobs fair to see what opportunities are on offer.”

In partnership with local MP Jack Abbott, Sizewell C has pledged to deliver at least 500 jobs for Ipswich residents during the plant’s construction. This commitment ensures that Ipswich will directly benefit from the significant employment opportunities that the project will generate.

Jack Abbott MP said: “This landmark deal, backed at a national level by the Government’s nuclear revolution, not only provides opportunities in the immediate term, but also creates a long-term pathway for people to train, retrain and upskill. That is why, in June, the Prime Minister came to Suffolk New College in Ipswich to announce the Government’s Sizewell C investment- because, fundamentally, this is about opportunity for people here in Ipswich and Suffolk.”

At peak construction, at least a third of the 7,900 workforce – around 2,600 jobs – will come from East Anglia. Some of those will be based at the Orwell Logistics Park in Ipswich, where Sizewell C has leased 1m square feet of space for office work and the storage of equipment and materials.

Sizewell C and the DWP plan to host further careers fairs in Leiston in October and Lowestoft in December.
