EDF Energy has been preparing an Evidence Plan in support of a regulatory process known as the Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA).
The Habitats Regulations give legal protection to sites of European and international importance for nature conservation. EDF Energy is required to provide adequate environmental information with its applications for development consent and environmental permits to enable the Competent Authorities to assess the impacts of Sizewell C on these premier ecological sites. Working with organisations such as Natural England, the Environment Agency, the local authorities, the RSP and Suffolk Wildlife Trust, the Evidence Plan scopes out the environmental information that EDF Energy will provide and identifies an indicative programme of further engagement with relevant technical stakeholders to discuss the detailed evidence requirements.
We have submitted the Evidence Plan to the Planning Inspectorate and it has been published on their website.
