The programme marks a significant milestone in the project’s commitment to developing local talent and creating new opportunities for young people across the region.
The band is one of seven groups awarded a share of £485,384 in the latest round of funding, taking the total awarded to local groups since the Sizewell C Community Fund was launched 18 months ago to more than £3.5m.
Over 2,000 people are now at work on site at Sizewell C each day, as the project continues to make significant progress on the Suffolk coast.
Suffolk Safety Solutions, based in Bacton, will supply Sizewell C’s growing workforce with essential safety wear, including hard hats, high-visibility clothing, and protective eyewear, ensuring the highest standards of on-site safety.
The proposed depot at Ransomes Europark will maintain a mixed fleet of about 150 zero emissions buses used to transport workers to and from site via the project's two park and ride facilities.
This contract milestone caps a hugely successful second year for Sizewell C, highlighted by its Final Investment Decision last summer, which unlocked £38bn of funding and made it the first majority British-owned nuclear power station in more than 30 years.
