Suffolk based Sarah Hancock has been appointed as HR Director for Sizewell C, the new nuclear power station currently being considered by the Planning Inspectorate.

If Sizewell C is built it will need 7,900 workers at peak construction and 900 skilled people to operate the station during its 60-year life span.

Sarah said: “I am delighted to take on this role.  My focus is delivering jobs for local people and new skills and training for those who are looking to join a growing sector whether that’s during the construction phase of the project or operation of the power station or both! Sizewell C will need at least a third of the workforce to come from the local area and will create 1,500 apprenticeships, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Suffolk worth billions of pounds to the regional economy and I am committed to ensure this brings a positive legacy for local people for generations to come.”

Sarah takes on the role after leading Industrial relations for the project which she will continue to manage alongside her HR responsibilities. Sarah will also play an active part in the work with the local community around Sizewell to ensure that the project delivers maximum social and economic value, including provision of high-quality local employment and the development of the local skills base, especially through new apprenticeships.

Sarah lives near Southwold with her family and her role will see her based in Leiston.
