Over 100 children filled the Sizewell B visitor centre today for the finale in a series of special science-based workshops.
Children made musical instruments using recycled material and then measured the sound they made in decibels in a sound booth. They were also able to make telephones using cups and string and formed a bottle orchestra to study sound and vibrations.
As the school summer holidays come to a close the station has welcomed almost 1000 visitors to the site this August.
Guests have ranged from grandparents looking for things to do with their grandchildren through to tourists from as far afield as New Zealand.
Niki Rousseau, Sizewell B community relations, said: “We have been delighted by the popularity of the summer science workshops.”
In the first session children made bird feeders using pine cones whilst exploring science and nature and in following sessions visitors have made gliders in the study of flight and musical instruments in the science and sound workshop.
The Sizewell B visitor centre is still open for public visits. To find out more details please contact sizewellbtours@edf-energy.com or 01728 653974.
