Labour party leader, Sir Keir Starmer MP, reiterated his support for Sizewell C during a visit to sister project, Hinkley Point C (HPC), in Somerset on Monday.

In his address to workers on site, Sir Keir reiterated the need for national progress on nuclear projects, saying Sizewell C needed to move forward “at pace” and that nuclear, along with renewables, should make up the UK’s future energy mix.

He added, “Some of the skills that are being deployed here today, I’m sure will be deployed at Sizewell and other plants because that’s how we get the innovation and the delivery of the projects that are so, so important to our country.”

On his visit, he was given a tour of the site by HPC’s Managing Director, Stuart Crooks, and met with members of HPC’s construction team to thank them and answer questions.

Hinkley Point C is the only new nuclear power station being built in the UK. Sizewell C will be a near-replica of HPC and will create wide-reaching social and economic benefits as HPC has done.
