Over 300 people attended the first of two annual Sizewell C jobs fairs in Lowestoft this week, as the project continues to showcase opportunities for local people.

The jobs fair, organised by Sizewell C with the Department for Work and Pensions, was hosted by East Coast College, and saw a large selection of the Sizewell C supply chain host stalls to offer insight and share information about jobs and career opportunities at the nuclear power project on the Suffolk coast.

The event follows an agreement signed by Sizewell C and Jess Asato MP last year, which pledged that Lowestoft would benefit from at least 500 clean energy jobs during the construction of the project.

Jess Asato, MP for Lowestoft, said: “This was an amazing event! Sizewell C is creating so many excellent job opportunities for local people. Whether it’s excavating with a digger or uncovering history with a trowel, there are fantastic career choices for young people and adults looking for a new challenge. I’m proud of our partnership with Sizewell C and East Coast College, ensuring local people benefit directly from this landmark project.”

The jobs pledge for Lowestoft is being supported by a series of activities in Lowestoft to ensure that people can access the many career and development opportunities the project offers, including jobs fairs and advertising in local media.

Stuart Allsopp, Sizewell C Jobs Service Lead, said: “Lowestoft is a really important town for us and this was another great opportunity to be visible in the town and make people aware of the incredible opportunities Sizewell C offers.

“There were well over three hundred people here today – and it really goes to show the appetite for opportunities in this area. People were able to find out about all the latest and future career opportunities on the project, and it was an excellent platform to network, gather information, and find out how to take their first steps onto Sizewell C project.”

As part of its push to ensure local people can access opportunities at Sizewell C, it last year launched a new employability hub, Nucleus, in partnership with East Coast College, to provide employment search assistance and application and interview support to those looking to secure employment in the region.

Located at the College’s Lowestoft Campus, Nucleus brings together services, training, and employability expertise to reach an untapped local workforce. It aims to combine the best practices of existing specialist stakeholders to provide pathways into employment, offering more opportunities to develop skills and find employment opportunities.

Rachel Bunn, Director for Commercial Projects and Community, East Coast College, said: “The Sizewell C project presents a major opportunity for local and regional communities, offering a broad range of job roles across multiple sectors. As one of the most significant infrastructure projects in the UK, it’s set to create pathways into employment for those starting out, those seeking career progression, and individuals looking to reskill and transition from other industries.

“This once-in-a-generation development will not only deliver clean energy but also drive investment in people—supporting skills growth, employment opportunities, and long-term economic impact. From apprenticeships and technical roles to engineering and supply chain careers, it’s shaping a future that benefits many generations.

“With this region’s towns poised to become centres of excellence for talent and innovation, Sizewell C reinforces East Anglia’s place at the forefront of national progress—leaving a legacy of skills, jobs, and opportunity.”

Sizewell C also previously announced a two-year funding agreement worth £100k with Access Community Trust to support Sams Wellbeing Hub and Café, providing a base to grow awareness and help people in Lowestoft access Sizewell C jobs.

This latest Lowestoft event follows a supply chain event in the town earlier this week, at which over 100 local businesses attended and were given insight on how to get involved, access support, and meet the necessary standards to contribute to the Sizewell C project.
