Employers unite for major new careers event for Suffolk’s young people

• Organised by Sizewell C, the event brings together around 25 leading organisations
• Designed to support young people not in education, employment or training
• Taking place at Ipswich Town Football Club on Wednesday 30 September

A major new careers event designed to help young people across Suffolk and East Anglia take their next steps into employment, training, and education will take place next week.

Organised by the Sizewell C Jobs Service, the event will bring together around 25 leading employers, major infrastructure projects, education providers, and industry partners to inspire and support local 16 to 24-year-olds as they consider their future careers.

Taking place at Ipswich Town Football Club’s Beattie Suite on Wednesday 30 September, the event will connect attendees directly with organisations offering jobs, careers advice, apprenticeships, and skills development opportunities, while showcasing the significant investment being made in the region’s future workforce.

Stuart Allsopp, Jobs Service Lead at Sizewell C, said: “Suffolk and East Anglia are attracting significant investment across multiple sectors such as energy, construction, and infrastructure, creating thousands of jobs and training opportunities. Today’s young people have a unique chance to be part of this once-in-a-generation transformation. By working together, employers can help them build rewarding careers, develop a strong local talent pipeline and ensure skills and opportunities remain within the region.

“Whether they are taking their first step into employment, considering an apprenticeship or exploring their career options, this event will help young people discover what’s possible, build confidence in their future, and take the first step towards a rewarding career right here on their doorstep.”

Exhibitors will include leading employers from across construction, engineering, energy, logistics, professional services, and retail, highlighting the diverse range of careers available across Suffolk and East Anglia.

Events like this provide an important opportunity to showcase the breadth of careers available across our industry and to inspire the future talent that will support our business and the wider region’s long-term success.”

The event comes at a time when supporting young people into education, employment and training is more important than ever. Recent figures published by the government show that around one in eight 16 to 24-year-olds across the UK are not currently in education, employment or training (NEET).

The careers event aims to help address that challenge by connecting young people with opportunities, while building a lasting skills legacy for the region.

With news published earlier this year by the government that around 1million people in this age group are currently not in education, employment or training at the moment, now more than ever, businesses and education need to unite to help our next generation reach their potential.

“It’s going to be a great event and one we are really looking forward to attending.”

The event is free to attend and will take place from 10am to 2.30pm.

Anyone aged 16 to 24 who is interested in exploring their future career options is encouraged to attend.
